Nairobi, Kenya, November 18- Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, 58, faced a controversial loss in his comeback fight against Jake Paul on Friday, November 15, 2024. Despite the defeat, Tyson expressed no regrets, emphasizing his gratitude for being able to return to the ring after a serious health scare earlier this year.
Originally scheduled for July, the fight was postponed when Tyson was hospitalized in June due to a severe ulcer. The boxer revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that he underwent eight blood transfusions, lost half his blood, and dropped 25 pounds during his recovery.
“This is one of those situations where you lose but still win,” Tyson wrote on Saturday, November 16. “I almost died in June… To have my children see me stand toe to toe for 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in a packed Dallas Cowboys stadium is an experience no man has the right to ask for. No regrets.”
Jake Paul, 27, responded with admiration, writing, “Love you, Mike. It was an honor. You’re an inspiration to us all.”
After the fight, Paul admitted he had held back during the match, avoiding a knockout when he noticed Tyson struggling. “I didn’t want to hurt him,” the social media star confessed.
Tyson’s return to the ring, despite his health challenges and age, proved to be a moment of triumph and inspiration, even in defeat.
