Nairobi, Kenya, December 2- Swazi DJ Uncle Waffles, whose real name is Lungelihle Zwane, has voiced her disappointment following a chaotic weekend concert in Nairobi.
The Saturday event, held at ASK Done along Ngong Road, was plagued by numerous issues, including harassment by event organizers, overcrowding, and poor sound quality. Attendees also reported delays and other frustrations, which escalated tensions. Police eventually used tear gas to disperse the agitated crowd, forcing many to leave the venue.
On Monday, Uncle Waffles released a statement expressing her dismay, holding the event organizers accountable for the chaos. She noted that poor sound quality was evident even before her performance and criticized the organizers for mishandling both the attendees and her team.
“The safety and wellbeing of people who come out to support me and this genre is my top priority,” Uncle Waffles stated. “I could not play my set any longer while people were visibly uncomfortable and at risk of getting hurt. To the event organizers, you have not only disappointed me but also let down the 10,000+ people who supported this event.”
Despite the disappointment, Uncle Waffles assured her Kenyan fans of a better experience in the future. “Kenya, I hope to see you again soon with a much better outcome. I love you guys so much!” she promised.
