Nairobi, Kenya, December 4- Joseph Kairo Wambui, widely recognized as Khalif Kairo, is currently detained at Kasarani Police Station following his arrest on allegations of defrauding a client of millions of shillings. The car dealer and social media figure was apprehended on Tuesday, December 3, over claims of promising high-end vehicles but failing to deliver.
Kasarani Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer Justus Ombati revealed that Kairo allegedly swindled a client of KSh 26 million and avoided refunding the money or providing the cars. “Yes, he is here. We arrested him today after he pocketed millions from a buyer and has been elusive. There are more complainants who have turned up, and we have opened a file on him,” Ombati stated.
Along with Kairo, three of his employees have also been detained and are under investigation. Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations Officer Benson Kasyoki confirmed that Kairo is being interrogated about similar accusations from other clients.
Responding to his arrest, Kairo addressed the issue on his X account, downplaying the situation and describing it as a routine challenge in business growth. He stated that litigation and financial difficulties are common hurdles for entrepreneurs aiming for greater success.
“These challenges you see me going through are very normal in business, especially for a growing company. Every big entrepreneur faces litigation or money issues at some point, especially when God is elevating them. For those checking on me, I am 100% okay and will overcome,” he wrote.
Kairo’s remarks have sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting him and others questioning his explanation.
