Nairobi, February 3- Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Grammy Awards.

The ceremony, held on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, saw Tems claim the award for her hit track Love Me JeJe. The 2025 Grammys celebrated a wide range of artists across different genres, with Tems emerging victorious in a highly competitive category.

She faced strong contenders, including Yemi Alade (Tomorrow), Asake and Wizkid (MMS), Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay (Sensational), and Burna Boy (Higher).

Released on April 26, 2024, Love Me JeJe is a reimagining of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 classic. Tems’ rendition blends Afrobeats and R&B, highlighting her distinctive sound.

This win marks her second Grammy, following her first in 2023. She received three nominations this year, bringing her total career nominations to eight.

Tems was also nominated for Best Global Music Album for Born in the Wild and Best R&B Song for Burning.
