Nairobi, February 25- Kenyan musician Kevin Kioko, popularly known as Bahati, has stirred controversy after advising financially unstable men to stay out of relationships.
In an Instagram post, Bahati shared his views on love and finances while unveiling the sixth of eight gifts he has been giving his wife, Diana Marua, to celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary.
The singer emphasized that relationships require financial investment, stating that any man who wants to love and be loved must be willing to spend on his partner. He added that men who refuse to provide for their women—or those who simply can’t afford to—should not pursue romantic relationships.
Bahati also took aim at men who label women as “gold diggers,” claiming that such accusations often come from those who fail to provide.
“Dear Men, a respectful piece of advice 🙏 If you don’t have money, don’t date 🫣 That’s the only way you’ll stop calling women gold diggers 😎 In my next post, I’ll show you how much I spent on Gift No.6 for my wife—Lovers’ Jewelry,” he wrote.
His remarks have sparked mixed reactions, with some agreeing that relationships require financial commitment, while others argue that love should not be defined by money.
For the past two weeks, Bahati has been making headlines on social media due to the extravagant gifts he has been giving Diana. To mark their anniversary, he has surprised her with expensive presents, including land, a housing project, and other luxurious gifts.
However, one of the most talked-about gestures was his decision to get a tattoo of Diana B on his arm as a symbol of his commitment.
