Nairobi, March 10 – Ugandan boxer Shakib Lutaaya has issued a public apology to his wife, Zari Hassan, who is based in South Africa, following a viral video that led to allegations of infidelity and widespread speculation on social media.

In response to the backlash, Shakib addressed the issue on social media on Saturday night, seeking to clarify the situation. In an emotional video, he expressed remorse for the incident and provided his perspective.

“I am not in a relationship with that person; I just know them,” he explained. “I want to apologize publicly because my mistake became public. I never intended to disrespect my wife, my family, or my friends.”

The undated video, which recently surfaced online, allegedly showed Shakib in a seemingly questionable interaction with an unidentified woman. While the clip only captured what appeared to be a brief exchange and a handshake, many online users speculated that the encounter was flirtatious, fueling rumors of marital issues.

Reacting to the controversy, Zari took to social media to express her frustration, suggesting that men often mistreat their partners. Despite her disappointment, she stated that her main focus remained on the holy month of Ramadan.

“Men will leave you in the desert with no water,” she wrote.

The couple recently appeared on Netflix’s popular reality series Young, Famous & African.
