Nairobi, September 2- Super Metro Limited has confirmed that one of its vehicles was involved in a fatal accident along the Thika Superhighway in Juja on Monday.

In a statement on Tuesday, September 2, the company explained that the crash claimed the life of a motorcyclist. The rider, attempting to avoid a collision, hit a pavement and fell into the path of the bus.

According to the company, the matatu was moving downhill when a tuk-tuk ahead tried to switch lanes. At the same time, a speeding motorcyclist overtaking nearby swerved to avoid a crash but lost control and was struck by the bus. He died on the spot.

Super Metro noted that the incident is under investigation by Juja Police Station and assured full cooperation to ensure a transparent process. The company also sent its condolences to the rider’s family and friends and reaffirmed its commitment to safety and adherence to traffic regulations.

Following the accident, boda boda riders set the matatu on fire, leading to a standoff that disrupted traffic on the highway. Police later arrived to find the bus completely destroyed.

Authorities confirmed that the rider’s body was taken to the mortuary for post-mortem, while the vehicle’s remains were towed to the police station. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
