Nairobi, March 16- The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has warned that doctors could go on strike following the alleged arrest of officials from The Nairobi Hospital under unclear circumstances.

According to the union, the arrests were carried out at night and involved senior hospital officials, raising concerns about intimidation and interference in the hospital’s leadership. KMPDU said the incident had created tension within the institution and warned that it would mobilise doctors to down their tools if the matter is not addressed.

The union criticised what it described as harassment of medical professionals and called on authorities to immediately explain the reasons behind the arrests. KMPDU leaders argued that such actions could destabilise operations at the private hospital and disrupt healthcare services.

They further warned that failure to resolve the situation promptly could trigger industrial action by doctors working at the facility, potentially affecting patients who rely on services at the hospital.

KMPDU urged relevant authorities to intervene and ensure transparency, insisting that medical professionals should not be subjected to intimidation while carrying out their duties.
