Nairobi, September 21- The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition has changed its name to the Ukombozi Alliance as part of efforts to reorganise the opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced the decision on Monday, September 21, saying it had been unanimously agreed upon by the coalition’s leadership.
Kalonzo said the rebranding would involve changes to the coalition’s structures and public engagement as the group prepares for the next election.
The announcement follows earlier plans by the coalition to reorganise its structures and engage other opposition parties as they consider possible political alliances ahead of the 2027 polls.
Kalonzo also said former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who chairs the Azimio coalition council, would convene a Jubilee Party meeting on Tuesday to make decisions that would subsequently be communicated to the Ukombozi Alliance.
He added that arrangements would then be made for the formal handover of the chairmanship of the coalition’s political party.
The latest changes come amid ongoing efforts by various opposition leaders and parties to reorganise their political formations ahead of the 2027 General Election.
