Nairobi, Kenya, October 15- Kenyan musician Willy Paul, is making a public effort to rebuild and regain the trust of corporate brands after years of controversy.
In a statement posted on his social media platforms, he pleaded for a second chance, insisting he’s been unfairly portrayed by the media and public.
He acknowledged that his reputation took a hit following allegations of personalities like Diana Bahati, Miss P and his ex girlfriend Michelle Dyer.
These accusations caused brands to distance themselves, but Willy Paul maintains that many of the claims were exaggerated or false. He pointed to a recent development in Diana Bahati’s case, which was dismissed by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) due to illegally obtained evidence.
“I’m not a bad person,” he stated, expressing regret over the controversies but stressing his commitment to personal growth. He highlighted his past successful brand collaborations and believes his influence in the music industry still holds value.
Everyone makes mistakes, but that doesn’t mean I should be written off,” he stated.
His plea for a fresh start comes at a time when brands are increasingly conscious of public figures’ reputations.
