Nairobi, Kenya, January 26- On Sunday, Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba, surprised fans by announcing that he and his wife, Annie, are separated and in the process of divorcing. The Afrobeats icon shared the news on his verified Instagram account.

The 49-year-old artist disclosed that the separation had been ongoing for some time. He assured fans that a detailed statement would soon follow, explaining his side of the story. While emphasizing that his private life is personal, 2Baba stated his intention to provide clarity out of respect for his supporters.

In his post, he wrote:
“Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long. Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while and have filed for divorce.

“I would grant a press release soon to say my story—not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people, and I need them to know my innocence or offence. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all,” he added.

The news left fans stunned, as the couple has been married since 2012. Within moments, the post went viral, sparking mixed reactions online. While some fans hoped the announcement was a misunderstanding, others speculated that the separation had been a long time coming.

Shortly after the announcement, a new post appeared on 2Baba’s Instagram page, claiming his account had been hacked and efforts were underway to regain control. “My Instagram has been hacked; efforts are being carried out to take back control. #One Love,” it read.

Despite this statement, skeptics questioned the validity of the hacking claim, noting how quickly the issue seemed to have been resolved. Adding to the confusion, 2Baba later posted a video confirming the divorce announcement was genuine and denying his account had been compromised.

He stated, “Hey, my people, nobody hacked my account; I said what I said. I come in peace.”
