Nairobi, October 23- The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has called for an urgent Central Committee meeting on Monday to address critical party issues amid growing talk of an impending Cabinet reshuffle by President William Ruto.

Deputy Party Leader Abdulswamad Nassir confirmed the meeting, which will be chaired by interim leader Dr. Oburu Odinga, saying it aims to realign the party’s agenda and reinforce unity following recent political developments.

Speaking on Citizen TV, Nassir outlined three key items on the agenda preparations for upcoming by-elections, celebrations marking ODM’s 20th anniversary and the 80 years of the late Raila Odinga, and discussions on the 10-point cooperation deal between ODM and UDA.

He emphasized that the meeting will also seek to strengthen internal cohesion as the party adjusts to life without its long-serving leader, Raila Odinga. “Our opponents may want to see us divided, but this meeting will help us chart the way forward and resolve emerging ideological differences,” Nassir said.

The meeting comes at a politically sensitive time, with reports suggesting President Ruto is preparing a Cabinet reshuffle following a political pact with KANU leader Gideon Moi, who is expected to join the broad-based government.

Nassir also announced plans for a wider consultative meeting involving ODM’s MPs, senators, and elected leaders to harmonize the party’s political direction. He added that ODM’s focus is not on returning to opposition politics but on advancing the vision and principles championed by the late Raila Odinga.

“The goal of ODM is to carry forward Baba’s legacy and policies. No political party aims to stay in opposition the ultimate objective is to lead,” he said.
