Nairobi, October 12- A United States government report has raised concerns over the alleged involvement of Kenyan officials in the recruitment of citizens to serve in the Russian military, placing renewed attention on the plight of Kenyans linked to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The allegations are expected to feature in discussions involving a joint Senate committee examining the recruitment of Kenyans and the circumstances surrounding their involvement in the war.

Families of affected citizens have faced uncertainty over the whereabouts and safety of relatives, with some reporting difficulties obtaining reliable information about those who travelled abroad.

The matter has also raised questions about recruitment networks, the information provided to jobseekers and the safeguards available to Kenyans seeking employment overseas.

Authorities are under pressure to clarify the allegations and explain what measures are being taken to protect citizens from deceptive recruitment practices and potentially dangerous overseas engagements.
